Goit-led outfit's involvement suspected

SIRAHA, MARCH 14

An Improvised Explosive Device went off in the Land Revenue Office based in Lahan of Siraha District on Sunday afternoon.

Nine people were injured in the incident of which two people are in critical condition.

According to Area Police Office Lahan's In-Charge Deputy Superintendent of Police Tapan Kumar Dahal, the device exploded on the first floor of the office at around 1 pm.

Land Revenue Office's employee 38-year-old Shiva Kumar Yadav and a service seeker 35-year-old Dinesh Bhandari from Dhangadhi Municipality-13 have been severely injured, said the police. Other injured in the blast include Bhola Pachey Magar (75), Shyam Lama, Lal Bahadur Bishwakarma (52), Badri Narayan Yadav (54), Phul Kumar Thakur (38), Lakshmi Rana (35) and Bechani Magar (35).

Dinesh Bhandari, who was first taken to Lahan based Saptarishi Hospital, has now been airlifted to Kathmandu in Nepal Army's helicopter for treatment. Others are currently being treated at the Saptarishi Hospital.

The police said a pamphlet stamped with contents on Janatantrik Tarai Mukti Morcha led by Jai Krishna Goit was found in the area leading to the suspicion of the group's involvement in the act.

"We are conducting further investigation into the case," the Area Police Office added.
