Senior Janata Samajwadi Party-Nepal leader Rajendra Mahato has accused Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli of pushing the country backwards by opting to dissolve the legislature elected by the people.
Speaking at a cadres' meet in Rajbiraj today, the JSP-N leader opined, "Oli's act of dissolving the House is a constitutional coup as well as a retrograde move that has set the country on the back gear." He further stressed the need to right the wrong by reinstating the dissolved Parliament.
"There is no option to launching a struggle against the PM's mischief," Mahato said, adding, "There are deliberations on the prospects of launching a joint struggle by forming a united front with other parties."
On a different note, the Madhes-based leader criticised the government for keeping Resham Chaudhary in prison.
"He (Chaudhary) is indeed an elected people's representative who fought for identity and rights, but unfortunately the government has thrown him behind bars by slapping him with life imprisonment," Mahato said.
"Securing the release of political prisoners such as Chaudhary will also be made an agenda of the joint struggle.
When inquired about the delay in integration of Rastriya Janata Party and Samajwadi Party, the opposition leader said the integration process was under way.
