Students of Juddha Secondary School of Gaur have padlocked the school for allegedly abusing students over a dispute over fees.
Regarding the exorbitant fees charged by the school in Grade XI and XII, students had reached out to the school administration to ask why the school had charged more fees. Agitating students padlocked the school after the school allegedly misbehaved with students who had gone to talk to the school administration about the exorbitant fees.
According to All Nepal National Free Student Union central secretariat member Rabi Mishra, the school is charging Rs 5,050 from each student in its plus-two level.
"The government has fixed a very nominal fee in the plus-two level. But Juddha Secondary School, which is a government school, is charging way more than the government-fixed amount - almost 10 times more - by adding fees under different headings,"
Mishra said. Agitating students have sought stern action against the school principal and administration over the fee-related issue.
Meanwhile, following the padlock, later in the day today, a discussion was held among various stakeholders to resolve the dispute.
Gaur Municipality Mayor Ajaya Kumar Gupta, School Management Committee Chairperson Rakesh Jha, student leader Mishra, among others, participated in the discussion.
